I had wished that ‘Wigville’ was a homage to those folliclely – challenged coves of the 50s but it turned out to be Russ Garcia (later of the fantastic ‘Fantastica’ album of music from outer space) and has band of that very name, circa 1955, that included the groovy line up of Charlie Mariano, Peter and Conte Candoli, and Jimmy Giuffre among others. The album itself is pretty bop-orientated with Peggy Connelly adding vocals for part of the platter as Russ directs proceedings. Great sleeve though.
