Beatnik by association? Good time cellar music to fit between poets and haiku hipsters? Ray Bauduc and Nappy LaMare are Dixieland jazzers who’ve dipped into “two-beat” jazz with more than a nod to the blues when needed and a strange side order of Dan Hicks And His Hot Licks’ brand of jug band music. More trad than your average Be Bop groover but in line with the more commercial elements of chamber jazz that accompanied some of the beats. Nice sleeve too.
