Jack Marshall was a composer and jazz guitarist who famously scored the theme tune and episodes of The Munsters as well as the Robert Mitchum movie Thunder Road. Back in 1959 he put together ‘Soundsville’, a succinct set of tunes that explored the Hi-Fi experience, dropping in and out of tunes and genre themes with ultimate ease and bringing light percussion instruments to the fore while mixing sounds and styles along the way. It’s bachelor pad space age music but its constant changes in instrument range and the play off between sounds make it an audio oddity.
